RESEPSI TERHADAP Q.S. AL-HASYR AYAT 9: STUDI LIVING QUR’AN TENTANG KEPEDULIAN SOSIAL DI JORONG PASIA TIKU, AGAM, SUMATERA BARAT

Abstrak

Studies on social concern in Q.S. al-Hasyr verse 9 have predominantly focused on normative exegesis, while research examining how the values of this verse are received and actualized in everyday social life remains limited. This study investigates the community's understanding and implementation of the concept of social concern embodied in Q.S. al-Hasyr verse 9 among the people of Jorong Pasia Tiku, West Sumatra, through the perspective of the Living Qur'an. This research employs a qualitative fieldwork approach. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, with Ahmad Rafiq's Qur'anic reception theory serving as the analytical framework. The findings reveal that the community interprets Q.S. al-Hasyr verse 9 as an ethical foundation for fostering social concern, which is manifested in various communal practices, including gotong royong (mutual cooperation), baralek (traditional wedding ceremonies), malam baretong (collective fundraising tradition), assistance for bereaved families, religious activities, and the sharing of marine catches among community members. These practices demonstrate that the Qur'anic value of īthār (altruistic preference for others) has been transformed into a living social norm embedded within the local culture. Nevertheless, the implementation of īthār has not fully reached the ideal form portrayed in the Qur'an, as it continues to be shaped by economic conditions, local cultural traditions, and varying levels of religious understanding. The study further finds that functional reception constitutes the dominant mode of Qur'anic reception, indicating that Q.S. al-Hasyr verse 9 functions not merely as a normative religious text but also as a value system that reinforces social solidarity within the coastal community. These findings contribute to the development of Living Qur'an studies by demonstrating that the reception of the Qur'an emerges through a dynamic negotiation between the Qur'anic text, local traditions, and social realities, resulting in contextualized expressions of social concern.
