ANALISIS PENGARUH PENGETAHUAN KESELAMATAN KESEHATAN KERJA TERHADAP PERILAKU KESELAMATAN KESEHATAN KERJA MAHASISWA PTB ANGKATAN 2024 FAKULTAS TEKNIK UNIVERSITAS NEGERI PADANG

Abstrak

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) has become a fundamental component of vocational education, as it plays a crucial role in fostering safe work behavior during practical learning activities. Although students receive OSH instruction before participating in laboratory and workshop practices, safety behavior is not always consistently implemented. This study aimed to examine the effect of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) knowledge on the OSH behavior of students in the Building Engineering Education Study Program, Cohort 2024, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Padang. A quantitative approach employing a descriptive correlational design was adopted. The study involved 55 students selected from a population of 58. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.897) and analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, Pearson product-moment correlation, simple linear regression, hypothesis testing, and the coefficient of determination with SPSS version 25. The findings revealed a strong positive relationship between OSH knowledge and OSH behavior, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of r = 0.743. Simple linear regression analysis produced the equation Y = 11.566 + 1.165X, with a t-value of 8.094 and a significance level of p < 0.001, indicating that OSH knowledge has a positive and statistically significant effect on students' OSH behavior. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R² = 0.553) indicates that OSH knowledge explains 55.3% of the variance in students' safety behavior, while the remaining 44.7% is attributable to other factors beyond the scope of this study. These findings demonstrate that improving OSH knowledge is a key strategy for strengthening students' safety behavior. Therefore, OSH education should be integrated with the development of a sustainable safety culture, enhanced supervision during practical sessions, and consistent implementation of standard operating procedures to establish a safer and more effective vocational learning environment.
